Fresh Clean Threads
Fresh Clean Threads turned UGC into its top-performing ad type by running structured briefs through Billo, hitting a 2+ ROAS on Black Friday creative that outperformed everything else in the account.
- 2.0+ ROAS on the top Billo videos during BFCM
- ~50% ROAS lift vs. usual account benchmarks
- $50K/mo ad spend, with UGC as the dominant creative format

Brand
Our best Billo videos tend to outperform everything else in the account. Some even hit above a 2 ROAS during a sale, which is unusual for ads with that much ad spend. The editing team is great, the prices are competitive, and the enforcement around timing and briefs is what makes the difference.
Fresh Clean Threads is a U.S. apparel brand built on a single promise: T-shirts and basics that actually fit, in a size range most brands don’t cater to. Their main T-shirts come in sizes small to 4XL across three lengths: short, regular, and tall.
Cori Hoffer is Marketing Coordinator at Fresh Clean Threads, where she runs the brand’s UGC pipeline end to end, from briefs to creator approvals to publishing on Meta and TikTok. Fresh Clean Threads uses Billo to source creators, run hook tests against tight brand standards, and keep their highest-performing creators booked for repeat campaigns.
Challenge
Get out of UGC platforms that were burning budget
Fresh Clean Threads’ previous UGC vendors had no enforcement on either side. Creators applied at the maximum rate the brand was willing to pay, turnaround stretched to a month or more, and revisions were technically agreed to but practically optional.
Implementation
Run UGC like a real production pipeline, not a freelancer marketplace
Cori moved Fresh Clean Threads’ UGC operation to Billo for three reasons: deadlines that creators are actually held to, pricing that doesn’t get gamed by every applicant, and an in-house editing team that handles captions and music so her own team doesn’t have to.
Structured and predictable timelines
Creators have a fixed window to deliver, revisions have a fixed window, and the brief has a fixed scope. The shift from “the videos will come at some point” to a real delivery date removed the biggest source of internal friction in her workflow.
Pricing that doesn’t get exploited
On other platforms, posting a $1,000 brief meant every creator applied at $1,000 even if they’d have happily shot the video for $200. Billo’s clear pricing structure removed that dynamic, so the budget Cori sets reflects what creators actually charge.
Reliable in-house editing
With AI captions on other platforms, Cori was sending five-typo videos back, getting one fix, sending them back again, and waiting weeks. Now her in-house team is freed up to focus on higher-value brand work like founder content and small-business collaborations.
Briefs that leave room for creators to surprise
Cori mixes tight brand standards (how the shirt is worn, no competing logos) with hook flexibility. One recent campaign called “Do Not Buy” started as a reverse-psychology hook idea the team only tested with two creators. It worked so well they’re now running new versions with different creators and different hooks.
Positive outcomes
A 2+ ROAS during BFCM and a freed-up creative team
2x ROAS on high-spend BFCM ads. Across Black Friday and Holiday Sale campaigns, top Billo videos delivered close to a 2 ROAS against a usual 1.3, even at high spend. CPA, AOV, and CTR all came in stronger on those same videos.
Billo videos consistently outperforming. Across every UGC vendor Fresh Clean Threads has worked with, Billo’s top performers consistently sit at or near the top of the ad account.
In-house creative team back on brand work. Billo’s editing team took captions and music off Cori’s plate. Her in-house team stopped post-producing UGC and went back to founder shoots and small-business collaborations.
Future plans and recommendations
Scale TikTok, test AI Mashups, keep rehiring the creators that work
Fresh Clean Threads is gradually increasing TikTok spend on top of its core Meta program. Cori plans to test Billo’s AI Mashups once the team has enough aligned creator videos to remix. And the creators who perform keep getting rebriefed, so the roster gets sharper with every campaign.
